Nitrous oxide — a little help for any visit
Not every anxious patient needs oral sedation. Nitrous oxide, often called laughing gas, is a lighter option for mild nerves, for regular cleanings, and for patients whose big work is done but who’d still like to take the edge off.
Request an AppointmentHow it works
You breathe a mix of nitrous oxide and oxygen through a small, soft mask over your nose. Within a few minutes you feel calm, a little floaty, and unbothered. You stay fully awake and can talk with us the whole time. When the appointment is over, we switch to pure oxygen for a few minutes and the effect is gone — you can drive yourself home.
Nitrous vs. oral sedation
- Nitrous oxide: mild relaxation · works in minutes, gone in minutes · no driver needed · available at any appointment
- Oral conscious sedation: deep relaxation · little memory of the visit · driver required · private Friday appointments · for significant fear or extensive work
